Don't Stand Silent

Do not stand silent. Suicide among youth and college campuses are not a new trend. This is not a fad that has grown overnight, but it is something that has been growing for some time now. Stress, depression, and many other emotions overwhelm people every day causing someone to not only have suicidal thoughts, but to actually following through with the thought and committing the suicide. This is not okay. It is not okay that we stand around and have people that we love and care for, fall through the cracks and become another statistic. According to http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/suicide-in-the-us-statistics-and-prevention/index.shtml many people can be faced with the problems that cause suicide but do not commit the crime. This is because suicide is completely preventable. If feelings of sadness or loneliness come over you, there are hotlines to call or even websites to go to so you can realize you are not alone. Websites like http://www.twloha.com/ and http://www.halfofus.com/ have stories of all kinds of people who talk about their problems and how they overcame their suicidal thoughts. Even celebrity stories can be found on these pages. Celebrities like Mary J. Blige or Vinny from Jersey Shore have all suffered from problems but overcame them with the help of others. Everyone needs somebody and there is always someone around. We should never stand alone, or stand silent.
